To drive in Ontario, you need to be at least 16 years old and have a valid Ontario driver’s license if you live here.
If you’re visiting Ontario and want to drive, you must also be at least 16 years old and have a valid driver’s license from your home province, state, or country. If you stay in Ontario for over three months, you’ll need an International Driver’s Permit from your home country.
New residents of Ontario who already have a valid driver’s license from another province, state, or country can use it for 60 days after moving here.
Once you become a permanent resident of Ontario, you must get an Ontario driver’s license.
