Important Course Considerations for this Module:
• Dual Handbook Requirement: This “Official MTO Motorcycle Handbook” must be used in conjunction with “The Official MTO Driver’s Handbook”. The Driver’s Handbook provides essential information relevant to all motor vehicle users, which is foundational knowledge for motorcycle riders as well.
• Handbook as a Guide: Remember that this handbook, and therefore this course material, is “only a guide”. For official legal purposes, you must refer to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act and its regulations, as well as the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act and the Off-Road Vehicles Act of Ontario.
• Safety Training Encouraged: The Ministry of Transportation strongly encourages new and existing motorcycle and moped drivers to take a motorcycle-safety training course. While this lesson focuses on the theoretical aspects of licensing, practical training is vital for developing the necessary skills for safe operation.
